Australian Refrigeration Mechanics Association
MISSION STATEMENT
Your Trade! Your Rights! Your Voice!
ARMA’s mission is to provide a grass roots, industry-led platform for Australia’s refrigeration and air-conditioning tradespeople to be heard by government. We aim to give you a voice at all levels of industry and government.
To achieve this, ARMA is committed to ensuring a national trade based licence is implemented.
As a board that is committed to our industry’s current and future performance, on behalf of the HVACR trade ARMA is your voice to fight for the removal of non-technically competent Cert II Qualifications.
Governments' insistence on ignoring our industry’s complaints about its Cert II has led to the loss of many skilled refrigeration and air conditioning tradespeople, who have been pushed out of what they thought were secure businesses and jobs. It has had devastating financial flow on effects on their families and communities and has seen massive increases in carbon emissions.
To ensure this doesn’t happen again, ARMA will work to achieve government funding to support
the upskilling of Cert III trade qualified refrigeration and air conditioning mechanics to certification in the use of all refrigerants as mandatory.
ARMA is also committed to achieve government recognition of the refrigeration and air conditioning trade as a specialised trade with the ability to showcase Australia as a leader in reducing carbon emissions and supporter of:
- the Kyoto Protocol’s internationally binding emission reduction targets and
- The Montreal Protocol’s phasing down of ozone-depleting refrigerants and phasing down of HFC refrigerants.
ARMA is focused on delivery of real representation, transparency, integrity and honesty within our industry.
ARMA’s representation at grass roots level of refrigeration and air conditioning specialists will:
- ensure recognition by Australian governments of our specialised trade
- bring back financial security and future viability to our industry, and in the process
- Protect industry members, consumers and our environment from the existing Cert II failure.
